Visual and Performing Arts
Our Arts Initiative
As part of the district's curriculum review cycle and Lion Legacy 2030, we are embarking on a strategic initiative to enhance our visual and performing arts programs. The initiative aims to introduce industry-relevant programming that will best equip students to pursue careers in the arts and to enrich the learning experience for all students who can benefit from creative pursuits. The initiative will leverage district resources to build more extensive study of digital arts mediums into the curriculum and to explore facilities renovations and enhancements.
Arts Advisory Panel
To inform our process, the district convened its first Arts Advisory Panel comprised of nearly 60 individuals representing local arts organizations, higher education institutions, parents of artistically-inclined students, staff, administration, and faculty. The panel has engaged in group discussions and panels regarding the latest industry trends and the skills needed for students pursuing careers in the arts. Their guidance has been a valued asset in our efforts to make informed decisions regarding the necessary improvements. If you are interested to participate in the Arts Advisory Panel, please contact Dr. Amanda Benolken, Director of Education, at abenolken@nhsd.org.
