Art

Art is what separates us from other species and makes us human. Our world today would simply not exist without it. It has the power to sell a product, lift our spirits, define a culture, rule a nation, tell a story and change the world. I believe deeply in art education and it gives me great pleasure to teach young children the foundations of art. Developing creativity, fine motor and problem solving skills is critical at such a young age. My students will be given a wide range of media to use – drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics and sculpture. The experiences they have in my class will help them develop while learning art history and reinforcing other curriculums.

The UES Art Show

Each year, the UES Art Show offers our students the chance to showcase their artistic talents while also serving as a valuable fundraiser for our elementary arts programs. Proceeds in the past have supported the integration of technology, including iPads, 3D printers, and green screens for teaching students how to create digital art like photography, 3D design and stop motion animation as well as supplies for the traditional arts like pottery wheels.
